Benin – DEME – Port of Cotonou Maintenance Dredging

  • 1

The approach or navigation channel and the basin of the Port of Cotonou, Republic of Benin, has been dredged in 2015: the DEME group has performed capital dredging of 4 km navigation channel and deepened the already existing 1 km channel. After this dredging campaign, significant siltation did happen especially inside the navigation channel and consequently potential problems for vessel navigation may occur.
CDR International BV delivered a report that provided a first analysis of the coastal system, the provided bathymetric surveys, from which a first identification of the potential causes of the strong siltation can be further discussed.
