Sri Lanka – CCCC GDC – Morphological Analysis Colombo Port City

  • 0

This study focusses on the morphological analysis of construction sequence of the reclamation works of Colombo Port City. A 2D numerical model (FINEL-2D) is set up and calibrated based on monthly survey results of period 2013-2015. For de different monsoon periods, expected wave conditions are analysed and model is used to predict the morphological changes.  Thereafter recommendations for both the sand filling planning as well as the rock structure planning are provided.
CDR and its partner have carried out (i) Analysis of construction sequence/planning (ii) data collection (ii) set-up and calibration of model (iii) full morphological model runs (iv) optimization construction planning/sequence including options for temporary protection sand fill.
